Summary of Changes from Previous Version
• Clarification of purpose to align to the University’s strategic and community goals, and its commitment to fostering a research culture aligned with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (Code). (clause 1) • Reorganisation of listings of legislative and ethical requirements by topic area (clause 2) • Updating of current research committees (clause 7) • Updating of roles and position titles of staff responsible for research leadership (clause 13) • Updating for researcher training topics to include peer review, publication and dissemination plans, and research integrity committees (clause 15) • Refining of language in the Policy to distinguish between suspected breaches of the Code and misconduct (clauses 17-19). • Inclusion of information around research involving foreign interactions, linking to Countering Foreign Interference Procedure (clause 20). • Emphasis of Work Health and Safety requirements and risk management to be undertaken to underpin research safety (clauses 32-33) • Removal of references to the Chemical Safety Committee and manual (clauses 38-40). • Streamlining direction for funded research by philosophic grants or donations to comply with the relevant Policy (clause 43). • Peer Review section added to the policy to align with the guidance in the Code (clauses 53-56) and definition of peer review added to the glossary (clause 64). • Clarification that research active staff must create and maintain a public CRO account (clause 57)
