(1) This Rule is the Governance (Official Emblems) Rule 2008. (2) This Rule commences on 21 February 2008. (3) A Rule for the purpose of defining the official emblems of the University. (4) This Rule is made pursuant to authority granted to the Council under section 31 (1) (f) and 32 of the Charles Sturt University Act 1989. (5) Notes Section 31 (1) (f) and 32 of the Act states that the Council may make Rules with respect to governance and administration of the University. (6) Words defined in the Charles Sturt University Act 1989 or Charles Sturt University By-law 2005 have the corresponding meaning in this Rule unless otherwise stated. (7) The notes in the text of this Rule do not form part of this Rule. (8) Headings do not form part of this Rule. (9) The official motto of the University is 'For the Public Good'. (10) The official floral emblem of the University is the Sturt Desert Pea or Swainsona Formosa. (11) The Coat of Arms of the University is shown at Item 1 of Schedule 1 and consists of the following elements: (12) For the avoidance of doubt, the image of an official emblem contained in Schedule 1 is the correct rendering of the official emblem of the University and where there is an inconsistency between the description provided in this Rule and the image the form set out in Schedule 1 prevails.
