Summary of Changes from Previous Version

August 2023 – The Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy has undergone a scheduled review, with minimal material change and no change to expectations or responsibilities for staff or students. The updated policy removes duplication, repetition of the law and non-policy statements, has re-ordered existing provisions for readability, and references external resources rather than stating them within the document, to maintain currency more easily.

The definition of drugs has been changed to clarify that the policy applies to both legal and illegal drugs (in line with public health definitions) and to emphasise that the policy is addressing impairment caused by the substance and preventing health and safety issues due to that impairment.
