Summary of Changes from Previous Version

November 2019 - all references to the Deputy Director Governance and Academic Secretary position have been updated to the University Secretary or their delegate, to align with current structure.


October 2019 - the Unit Head field has been updated from the University Secretary and Director, Governance and Corporate Affairs to the University Secretary, to align with current structure.


January 2017 – administrative changes to clause 4. 'Research Advisory Committee’ updated to ‘Research Committee’, to align with current committee structure, as authorised by the University Secretary under Delegation GOV10B.


This is the first version of this document to be published in the CSU Policy Library. For all intents and purposes, this version is reflective of the existing version that was published in the relevant manual (academic or administration) at the time the CSU Policy Library was launched. The document has been subjected to reformatting, including the application of a new numbering system and title.

Established as the Exclusion Appeals Sub-committee on 14 November 1991 (BG 90/162), changed by Academic Senate to Academic Appeals Sub-Committee on 24 September 1991 (AS 91/140), changed to the Academic Appeals Committee on 8 December 1993 (BG 93/184). Amended on 25 October 1995 (AS 95/215-216), 25 June 1997 (AS 97/128), 29 October 1997 (AS 97/280), 17 February 1999 (AS 99/6), 4 September 2002 (AS 02/105), 11 December 2002 (AS 02/119) and amended in response to the establishment of the Academic Progress Regulations (to be effective from 1 January 2005) on 7 April 2004 (AS 04/5) and 13 June 2007 (AS 07/74). Amended in response to the review of appeal processes (to be effective from the commencement of all study sessions in 2010 and after) on 2 December 2009 (AS 09/172)


May 2021 – This committee has been disestablished by Academic Senate under ASSC21/22. This has been replaced by University Student Appeals Committee.
