Section 1 - Membership

(1) The Residential Schools Steering Committee shall comprise:

1. Dean of Students — Presiding Officer;
2. University Secretary or their delegate;
3. Associate Deans, Learning and Teaching, Faculty of Science;
4. Associate Deans, Learning and Teaching, Faculty of Arts and Education;
5. one Co-Director, ulmagine;
6. Director, Student Residences and Business;
7. Executive Officer, Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration);
8. Manager, Operational Services, Division of Facilities Management;
9. Manager, Operations, Division of Student Administration; and
10. Student representative — nominated by Student Senate.

Section 2 - Terms of Reference

(2) The Residential Schools Steering Committee is established as a sub-committee of the Curriculum, Learning and Teaching Committee and reports to the CLTC.

(3) The Residential Schools Steering Committee shall:

1. within the framework of the Charles Sturt University Strategic Priorities, review our approach to residential schools to ensure that they enhance holistic student engagement through well designed, responsive and timely online and face-to-face interaction;
2. within the framework of the Residential Schools Policy, monitor and review residential school offerings to ensure that their purpose is to achieve outcomes, in subjects or courses, that are not achievable elsewhere in online education teaching or for other reasons cannot be addressed without face-to-face delivery;
3. within the framework of the Academic Communication with Students Policy and the Residential Schools Policy, monitor and enhance the ways in which students are informed of residential schools, their operation, and available services;
4. provide a forum for the review of residential schools, that includes the commission of audits, in order to support continual improvement of residential schools through collaborative practice between Faculties and service providers in order to enhance student outcomes;
5. receive reports from the Residential Schools Working Party and from other stakeholders and committees related to residential schools and make recommendations arising from such reports that enhance our approach to the conduct of residential schools;
6. develop and implement a student-centred collaborative approach that governs the establishment of residential schools and ensures alignment of residential school practice with existing initiatives and strategies;
7. seek, through analysis of data, an overall reduction in the use of Residential Schools and support Faculties to identify other models of delivery that can support outcomes, including those required by accrediting bodies; and
8. review and endorse the residential schools annual report, drafted by the Dean of Students, for submission to the first meeting of the Curriculum, Learning and Teaching Committee in the year following the year of review.

Section 3 - Miscellaneous

(4) The Residential Schools Steering Committee shall meet once every two months.

(5) The Residential Schools Steering Committee shall receive reports from the Residential Schools Working Party.

(6) Secretariat support for the work of the Residential Schools Steering Committee shall be provided by the Office for Students.
