Summary of Changes from Previous Version

April 2021 – position title changes in accordance with University structure changes, approval of document correct in accordance with GOV10B.


November 2020 – Editorial changes to remove notes regarding the implementation of this policy but do not form part of the policy. A version of this document prior to the change has been captured in the University’s record management system.


July 2020 - This is the first version of the Course and Subject Policy to be published. It has been developed through the academic governance review project and will subsume various policies that will be rescinded on 1 November 2020.


This policy will come into effect in two stages. Clauses (1)-(10), the ‘Course and subject development, approval and phasing out’ provisions stated at clauses (31)-(37) and the table of approval authorities following clause (37) will take effect immediately this policy is published. The remaining clauses will take effect from 1 November 2020.


The policy has been approved in accordance with delegation schedule 1 - GOV9, under resolution AS165/11.
