Summary of Changes from Previous Version

August 2021 – Editorial change to clause 115a, in accordance with GOV10B, to correct error. A copy of the document prior to this change has been captured in the University records management system.

August 2021 - Minor change to clause 115, approved by Academic Senate, resolution AS171/9 in accordance with GOV9.

May 2021 - Minor changes approved in accordance with GOV9, resolution AS169/10. Amendments to reflect changes to the Academic Staff Qualifications and Expectations Procedure and the University student appeals process.

April 2021 – position title changes in accordance with University structure changes, approval of document correct in accordance with GOV10B.

March 2021 - Minor amendments to confirm student contributions to published works included in a thesis by publication or by prior publication, and to HDR examination processes. Approved in accordance with delegation GOV9, resolution AS168/9.

December 2020 – Editorial changes in accordance with GOV10B: Placeholder updates: Admissions - Entry Requirements (Higher Degrees by Research) Procedure replacing Schedule 2 Entry Requirements; references to Director, Research updated to Dean, Graduate Studies.

November 2020 – Editorial changes made in accordance with GOV10B to clauses 6m-n, 27b, 52a, 68, 86b and 128b, that were not consistent with the policy approved by Academic Senate. A copy of the document prior to this change has been saved to the University records management system.

October 2020 - The Higher Degree by Research Policy has been reviewed as part of the academic governance review project and approved by Academic Senate (resolution AS166/5). The policy is now supported by the Higher Degree by Research Procedure and Higher Degree by Research Scholarships Procedure - Australian Government Research Training Program Funded Scholarships and subsumes the Higher Degree by Research Candidates Policy - Academic Communication, Higher Degree by Research Complaints Procedure and Higher Doctorate Policy.
