Summary of Changes from Previous Version

May 2023 - The Animal Ethics Committee membership and terms of reference have been revised and approval under delegation A17.


Changes include: • Change of name from Animal Care and Ethics Committee; provision for advance approval for the immediate use of animals, if required, for the diagnosis of unexplained and severe disease outbreaks or morbidity/mortality in animals or people; term of membership has been extended to three years; clarity regarding the approval requirements of a member where there is a research portfolio funded workload allocation; requirements for a member induction program; membership of the executive reduced; identification and role of non-voting members has been expanded and made consistent with the Code; functions and responsibilities of the committee and presiding officer better aligned with the requirements of the Code; provisions for responding to non-attendance; confidentiality provisions have been expanded for clarity.
